List of OS maps

Ordnance Survey (OS) produce many maps but the best known are the 1:50000 and 1:25000 scale maps. For walking, the 1:25000 series are stronly recommended as they show far more detail to help you navigate, not least field boundaries which are very useful for moitoring your progress across the countryside or working out exactly where you are.

The OL (Outdoor Leisure) series concentrates on the National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and are indicated by having their number in a yellow box, both below and on the maps themselves. The remainder named OS Explorer Maps have a grey box. All are at 1:25000 scale. Both types now come with free mobile download.
